You have questions - we have answers!

  • How fast will B2B payments move to electronics? What key forces are driving the accelerating pace of conversion?
  • Navigating the maze of B2B solutions: What is Xign and why did JPMorgan chase buy it? What is the MasterCard Payment Gateway? How is AmEx leveraging its acquisition of Harbor Payments? How is the ACH network addressing B2B payments? What are leading ERP vendors doing to facilitate B2B payments?
  • Which will be the “winning solutions”? Are card based solutions and ACH based solutions competing – or are they targeting different kinds of payments?
  • Are order-to-cash (seller) and procure-to-pay (buyer) needs handled equally well by the solutions on the market today? What is a supplier network – and why is it important?
  • Will remittance data processing ever become standardized?
  • What is a UPIC?
  • How is the industry mobilizing to better handle cross border payments?
  • What will my company have to do to achieve straight-through-processing (STP) with our trading partners?
  • How can my bank better support the B2B payment needs of its customers?
  • As a solution provider or payment processor, how can I optimize my B2B solution?

Course Objectives

After years of slow progress, electronic payment is finally gaining traction in the B2B segment. The aim of this new two-day workshop is to enable participants to understand the on-going transformation of business-to-business (B2B) payments from check to electronic forms and how businesses, banks, and payment providers can accelerate the pace. This focused workshop combines Glenbrook’s comprehensive view of new and emerging payments methods with in-depth coverage of the unique challenges and opportunities inherent to B2B transactions.

Participants will learn:

  • The underlying accounts payable and accounts receivable practices of large companies
  • How current check and electronic payments systems work and how effectively they integrate into A/P and A/R processes
  • The categories of electronic payments options, including: card payments, ACH payments, wire transfers
  • The major players and providers in each category
  • The “soft” and “hard” benefits and costs of current and new systems, including the economics of using various options
  • The working capital impact of current and new B2B payment systems
  • The impact of enterprise size on payments choices (big payer/small payee & vice versa)
  • An understanding which key industry verticals (e.g. healthcare, manufacturing) have unique requirements
  • The nuances of key issues in B2B payments: remittance data handling, electronic invoice receipt and capture, payments reconciliation, payments timing, credit risk, etc and how they impact business payments decision-making
  • How cross border disbursements and collections are being handled by “best practices” companies
